Healthy Kirby

To limit the spread of COVID-19 and protect the health of our community, Kirby enforces campus safety protocols which follow the orders and guidance issued by the California Department of Public Health, Cal/OSHA Workplace Safety and Health Regulations, and local health departments.

Weekly COVID Testing

Kirby offers weekly optional COVID-19 surveillance testing for students and staff. Kirby encourages all students and staff to monitor their health and avoid coming to campus if experiencing symptoms.

Reminders:

We appreciate all families taking illness seriously. Our first and most important reminder is to be aware of your child’s daily well being and plan to stay home if they are exhibiting any symptoms of Covid-19 or any other illness. Each family should create their own daily health check and respond to any symptoms of illness that their child is experiencing.

Specifically:

  • If your child has a fever, please keep them home until they have been fever-free, without medication, for 24 hours and they are able to handle lingering symptoms independently.

  • If your child has had an upset stomach with vomiting and/or diarrhea, do not send them back to school until they are symptom-free for 24 hours. Gastrointestinal viruses can be very contagious and spread through classrooms quickly.

Regarding Covid-19:

  • If your child has any symptoms of Covid-19, please have them tested before returning to campus. They can take a rapid test or PCR test. If the test result is positive, please notify Laura Lucas, Director of Operations at llucas@kirby.org

If you have any questions, please email Laura Lucas, Director of Operations at llucas@kirby.org.
