COPPA: Student Privacy
About COPPA
Kirby School uses a wide variety of online resources to support its comprehensive program. From tools like the Google Suite and the Kirby Portal to ed-tech games and apps, productivity, learning and teaching is improved through their use. The guidelines and regulations outlined in the Children’s Online Privacy and Protection Act (COPPA), enacted by Congress in 1998, with amendments made in 2012, offers control to parents when information is gathered from children under the age of 13 by commercial apps and websites. Kirby School is alerting you to those websites and apps your student may use in conjunction with Kirby’s educational program. In the interests of keeping parents informed, we have included on this list resources that have student identifiable information. Those sites that do not collect personally identifiable information from the student are not covered by COPPA, but may be included below for information purposes. This is a dynamic list as we are continually reviewing student teaching and learning resources. We are always seeking the best possible online resources to support your student's learning.
